There is a health fair called “A Healthy Sunshine Day for Special Children” being held on Saturday November 21st from 12pm to 6pm at the Sunshine Early Stimulation Centre, which is located in Perry Gap, Roebuck Street, St.Michael. This is being organised by a Lynora Hobbs who is a social work student at the University of West Indies.
The fair aims to give parents the tools needed to reduce the overall stressful impact that the introduction of Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) can have on family in a fun and interactive environment. Parents can learn not only about the importance of healthy eating for their children but also about specialized diets such as the Gluten Free diet, that can be implemented to reduce symptoms of autism according to various studies
For further information contact Lynora at 622-2038.
If you want the best coffee in town alongside a slice of gluten free cake, you’ve found the right place. This is a beautiful coffee shop within the grounds of the George Washington House, The Garrison, St Michael. It is a perfect venue for breakfast or lunch. There is seating inside and outside and the decor is clean, fresh and the smells are just devine. The staff are warm and friendly too. The breakfast menu is very tempting and I’m still salivating over a recent frittata!
They also take bookings if there is a large group of you!
Please note, that payment is strictly by cash only.

It’s an early start for the Brighton Farmers Market held every Saturday at the Brighton Plantation, St George as the opening hours are 6:00 am – 10:00 am. It is worth the early start though as it has a great social scene and a great family atmosphere. As well as fresh fruit and vegetables, there are craft stalls, gourmet stalls and gluten free products too.
Go and experience a delightful breakfast on the grounds of a beautiful plantation with a beautiful view of the St George valley.

Lemongrass Noodle Bar & Grill is set within the Limegrove shopping centre in Holetown, St.James. There are many delicious modern Asian dishes and they offer rice noodles in place of any wheat noodles. They also use naturally fermented Kikkoman soy sauce which is gluten free. The reviews on Trip Advisor are very good.
They do takeaway too! A great venue for either lunch for dinner.

In the north west side of the island, there are food treasures galore in the small town of Speightstown and this is one of my favourite places. L’Attitude is set by the mural just off Queen Street, corner of Prince Alfred Lane, in a beautiful beachfront setting and offers a menu that changes seasonally and is purchased locally. The food is cooked on large flat griddles and is just delicious. They offer some great options of chicken, lamb, beef, shrimp or combinations. Although they also serve pasta and pizza, if you call ahead they will happily arrange gluten free versions for you (best give 24 hours notice). My recommendation is that you try the grilled veggies with the meat/fish. Absolutely delicious and full of local flavour.
The Mural by the edge of the restaurant
An added bonus is that there are sunbeds on the peaceful beach by the restaurant too, giving you somewhere to sleep off the lovely food. I would also recommend the great music evenings held there. Always a great Saturday night out with amazing music, a friendly crowd and lots of dancing. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for news of these nights!
